The 8th grade CASE class looked at goals a little differently for this semester by creating a BINGO board. They chose 6 school goals, 6 personal/fun goals, 6 self-improvement goals, and 6 things to do to boost people's moods at school. They have them taped in their locker so they don't forget!

2nd and 4th grade celebrated the 100th day of school together. The students had to solve the mystery of who stole the pencil sharpener. In order to do this each group had to complete a task to get a clue. Everyone in each group had to complete the task before their group was given the clue. At the end of the five tasks, they had enough information to solve the mystery if they correctly interpreted it. The students had a great time with this activity that promoted teamwork and higher order thinking.

We are 100 days smarter in Mrs. Herrold’s class! To celebrate the day, the students enjoyed building with 100 legos, pattern blocks and cups. We also took 100 licks from lollipops and made cool glasses.

On January 22, Middle School students participated in an incentive during advisory period. Mrs. Altenburg took a group of students to the gym to play basketball. The criteria to participate included: all assignments completed for all classes, no tardies, and good behavior. Some students participated in other activities and a homework room. We plan to offer this incentive a couple of times a month.

The preschool class started the new year learning about buildings.  We are talking about the planning stages through every part of the building stage.  In Mrs. Derry's classroom, our dramatic play area has been turned into a construction zone. Where we have big blocks that resemble bricks, and the students love building towers with these blocks.  We have used small blocks as well to make buildings during circle time to learn how to describe what we built.  Last week, we drew pictures of our homes and talked about the shapes that we use to make buildings.  This week we are building on our light table and learning about the tools workers use while creating buildings.
