First graders in Mrs. Hellenga’s class are learning about living and non-living things. We read a book to learn what makes something living or non-living. Then, students practiced sorting pictures into living and non-living groups. We also played “Vote with Your Feet!” Mrs. Hellenga showed a picture, and students moved to one side of the room if they thought it was living and the other side if it was non-living. It was a fun way to learn and get moving.

3rd grade is working on their daily morning worksheets. These worksheets have questions pertaining to reading, language, and math. Morning work gives the kids a calm, easy start to the day. They come in, settle down, and jump into something quick to get their brains going.

Students in Miss Leber's 4th grade ELA have been busy taking vocabulary notes and preparing for an upcoming vocabulary test. They’re also diving into two different stories this week, giving them the opportunity to make connections to their own heritage while learning about and appreciating the heritage and experiences of others.

Ms. Smith’s preschool class is building fine motor skills through pencil grip, manipulating small objects, and scissor practice. Each snip, pinch, and scribble builds the control and coordination needed for writing and daily tasks.

The fourth graders are studying different types of energy by creating paper roller coasters. They get to observe a marble using the force of gravity to turn potential energy into kinetic energy.
