Mrs. Herrold's first grade class read the realistic fiction book, "The Pumpkin Elf Mystery". The story turned into nonfiction when the Pumpkin Elf messed up our classroom! He did leave a treat for everyone...a tiny pumpkin!

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins!!

Last week, Mrs. H's preschool class spend the morning “investigating” (our new word for today) pumpkins. We each got to pick our own pumpkin (thanks to Mrs. Trish. 🙂) And then we investigated how tall , big around, and heavy they were. Fun fact did you know pumpkins FLOAT!!

Ms. Kaiser's freshmen English class participated in a Book Buffet in the library. Four books of various genres were set up on tables for students to sample. First, they judged the book by its cover and then read the first chapter for three minutes. Next, they rated the book from delicious ("I'd like another helping") to disgusting and wrote their first impressions of the book. Students rotated around the tables to explore books in different genres (sports, adventure, realistic fiction, sci-fi/fantasy/supernatural, Native American). Students at each table discussed which book was their favorite. Finally, they were able to check out books that interested them.
